Everybody likes Danny Dragonfly. Because he flies so fast, he is always the first to find out what’s going on in Flower Town, and with his large eyes he never misses seeing anything. If anybody needs anything quickly, they always call on him, and he loves to help. He doesn’t like the cold weather, so he sometimes disappears in the winter. But he returns quickly when the sun comes out. Danny Dragonfly makes everybody feel happy because his body is made of beautiful colours. When he flies around in the sun, he spreads colour everywhere.

The dragonfly

A dragonfly is an insect with a long body, transparent wings and large eyes which are made up of lots of little eyes. It has six legs, a thorax, a head and an abdomen.

Although it has six legs, it is not good at walking, but it’s very good at flying. It can fly forwards and backwards fast, and it can stop and hover. It’s one of the fastest flying insects in the world.

The dragonfly is also one of the most colourful insects in the world. It can be blue, green, yellow, red and many other colours.

The dragonfly likes water and warm weather. It likes to warm up in the sun during the morning, then it flies all day. It likes to eat mosquitoes and gnats and sometimes other insects. It creates a basket with its legs to catch its prey. Its many eyes help it to see in all directions and find its food.

A dragonfly landing on your head is considered to be good luck!
